Labuan’s Lawn Bowls, Athletics & Aquatics Athletes Arrive in Kuching for BGK 2025

Labuan’s Lawn Bowls, Athletics & Aquatics Athletes Arrive in Kuching for BGK 2025

KUCHING – The Labuan contingent for the Borneo Games Kuching (BGK) 2025 touched down in Kuching on the evening of 22 September, with athletes from lawn bowls, athletics, and aquatic swimming arriving to prepare for competition.

A group of 32 individuals, comprising 23 athletes, along with their coaches and team management, landed at Kuching International Airport (LTAK) around 7:30 pm.

They were welcomed with a cultural dance performance by Sarawak’s indigenous tribes before being transported to their accommodations.

The breakdown of the arriving athletes is as follows: 12 from lawn bowls, 5 from athletics, and 6 from aquatic swimming.

Meanwhile, the archery (3) and badminton (6) athletes had already arrived earlier. There remain 9 athletes in the tug-of-war team expected to join in the coming day to complete the Labuan delegation.

In total, the Labuan contingent will comprise 41 athletes competing across six sporting disciplines: athletics, archery, aquatics, lawn bowls, badminton and tug-of-war. The BGK 2025 event is scheduled to run from 24 to 28 September.

Organisers say these early arrivals allow athletes time to acclimatise to Kuching’s facilities and conditions ahead of their events.
