Lawas Darts Tournament Draws Regional Competitors

LAWAS – Over 80 teams, some from as far as Brunei Darussalam and Sabah, recently converged in Lawas for the Open Double Darts Competition.

The event, held at Kampung Pemukat Hall, successfully brought together a diverse group of participants and spectators, highlighting the sport’s growing appeal in the region.

The competition saw teams from various districts, including Limbang and the host district of Lawas, vying for the top prizes. The opening ceremony was officially launched by Kampung Pemukat Village Head, Joferi Bakir.

The top honors went to the Aru JM Team, comprising Jimi and Yuraf Wahidin Najmi Rosli. They secured the championship title after a series of intense matches.

The Meroyo Team, with Awang and Asrapi, claimed the second-place finish, while the SJA A team, represented by Lala and Amit, came in third. The fourth-place spot was taken by the KDC X DSS A2Z team, represented by Alex.

The prize-giving ceremony was conducted by the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth Head of the Bukit Sari Branch, Durahman Salleh. Other notable attendees included Awang Damit Ali Hasan and Consul Mohamad Abu Bakar.

Organized by the Kuala Lawas Youth and the Gabungan Kuala Darters Club (GKDC), the event drew more than 270 participants and spectators, underlining the strong local interest in darts.

Organizers hope to make the tournament an annual tradition, aiming to elevate the sport’s status within the local and regional communities. The atmosphere was further enhanced by a lucky draw, adding to the festive spirit of the day.
