Lingga Assemblyman, JKM Provide Aid to Simanggang Fire Victims

SIMANGGANG: Four families who lost their homes in a devastating fire at Jalan Surau, Kampung Hilir, Simanggang, received much-needed assistance from various parties today.

Deputy Head of the United Bumiputera Party (PBB) Lingga Branch, Suhaidi Los, along with Head of Information, Zakaria Othman, and Head of PBB Lingga Youth, Abdul Rahim Jamil, personally delivered donations to the fire victims.

According to Suhaidi, the aid was provided by Lingga State Assemblyman (ADUN) Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor, who is currently away on official duties.

“We hope this contribution will ease their burden. Though small, it symbolizes new hope for the affected families. We urge them to remain strong and patient in facing this challenge,” he said.

<strong>Immediate Assistance from JKM</strong>

The Sri Aman Social Welfare Department (JKM) also stepped in swiftly to support the victims. Essential daily items such as mattresses, mats, towels, telekung (prayer garments), prayer mats, pelikat cloth, blankets, pillows, and food supplies were distributed.

The aid effort was also supported by Sri Aman District Officer Shariff Bujang, Pemanca Abang Norin Abang Norudin, and Village Head Haji Undom Jimi Peri, who were present during the donation handover.

Authorities have assured that follow-up actions will be taken to ensure long-term relief for the affected families. The compassionate response from local leaders and agencies highlights the spirit of unity and care in Sarawak, especially in times of crisis.
