KOTA SAMARAHAN: The formation of the Lorong 8, Taman Desa Ilmu Residents Association marks a meaningful step forward in enhancing unity and community spirit among local residents.
Speaking at the association’s official launch and the Gawai Dayak 2025 closing celebration, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Kota Samarahan MP, Datuk Rubiah Wang, praised the initiative for creating a valuable platform for interaction and collective action.
“I deeply appreciate the establishment of this association. It enables direct engagement with residents, providing an avenue to listen to their concerns and celebrate our neighbourhood spirit,” she said on Saturday.
Datuk Rubiah extended her congratulations to the organisers for successfully holding the launch event and the festive gathering, which reflected the community’s shared identity and commitment to unity.
She also encouraged the association to continue organising inclusive, multicultural programmes, particularly those rooted in local customs and traditions.
“Cultural events such as weddings or mourning ceremonies based on Iban traditions should be highlighted as part of our efforts to preserve Sarawak’s diverse heritage,” she added.
She emphasised that maintaining cultural understanding and promoting tolerance among all ethnic groups remains key to safeguarding Sarawak’s social harmony.
The establishment of the association is expected to play an important role in empowering residents, fostering neighbourly relations, and supporting government outreach efforts in Kota Samarahan.
