ROBAN – An early morning crash between two lorries at Jalan Pan Borneo, near Dabai Rasuk Lichok, Saratok-Sarikei stretch, left one person injured after one vehicle rammed into the rear of another. The incident occurred around 6.27am and involved four victims in total.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), the Saratok Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received the emergency call and promptly dispatched a team of eight personnel to the scene, led by Senior Fire Officer I, Abdul Rahman Sabi.

“The accident involved a lorry crashing into the back of another lorry in front. Four individuals were involved – three escaped without injury, while the driver of the rear lorry suffered injuries,” said the department in a statement.

The injured driver, who was trapped in the front cabin, sustained minor injuries to his left leg. Firefighters were forced to cut open the crushed door of the vehicle to safely extract the victim.

The fire brigade utilised rescue tools to free the man before placing him on a stretcher. He was then handed over to Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel on-site and transported to the Roban Clinic for further medical treatment.

Authorities have yet to confirm the exact cause of the collision, and investigations are ongoing to determine whether mechanical failure or driver error was involved.

Motorists using the Saratok-Sarikei route this week are advised to exercise extra caution, particularly during early morning hours when road visibility may be compromised.
