Lundu District Council Hosts Joint Aidilfitri and Gong Xi Raya Event

LUNDU – The Lundu District Council (MDL) successfully hosted a vibrant double celebration today, bringing together the local community for a combined Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri and Gong Xi Raya event.

Held at the main entrance of the Council’s administrative office, the gathering was designed to reinforce the spirit of multicultural harmony that defines the district.

The celebration served as more than just a festive occasion; it functioned as a strategic platform to bridge cultural and religious divides.

By merging the celebrations of Hari Raya and Chinese New Year, the council aimed to foster a deeper sense of belonging among Lundu’s diverse residents, regardless of their personal backgrounds.

The event was attended by high-ranking local officials, including the Chairman of the Lundu District Council, Zulkarnain Ismail, and the Acting Secretary, Lisa Mireg.

They were joined by various council members, representatives from government departments, and private sector partners who play a role in the district’s ongoing development.

During the proceedings, Lisa Mireg highlighted the importance of grassroots engagement in building an inclusive society.

She noted that such programmes are essential for bringing citizens closer together and instilling mutual respect between different ethnic groups.

“Events of this nature are the most effective medium for strengthening public understanding and nurturing the values of respect that are vital in a multi-racial community,” she stated.

She further committed to making these unifying initiatives a permanent fixture of the council’s community outreach strategy to ensure long-term social stability.

In addition to the public-facing festivities, the council used the “Hospitality Event” to strengthen internal professional networks.

The gathering allowed MDL staff to interact directly with strategic partners and public sector agencies in an informal setting, fostering a “family spirit” intended to improve inter-agency cooperation.

The council extended its formal appreciation to the numerous guests and stakeholders who attended, acknowledging that their continued support is vital for the effective delivery of municipal services.

By maintaining strong professional synergies, the MDL hopes to continue improving the quality of life for all residents within the Lundu District.

The day concluded with a showcase of local hospitality, leaving a clear impression of unity as the district looks forward to future collaborative development projects.
