LUNDU – The Lundu District Civil Defence Force responded to an emergency call on Sunday morning, 3 May 2026, after a snake was discovered inside a residential property in Kampung Stunggang Melayu Baru.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received the report at 7.09 am from a resident who found a Sawa batik snake in the bathroom of their home.
The complainant immediately contacted APM Lundu for assistance, leading to the deployment of officers to the location.
Civil defence personnel arrived promptly and successfully captured the reptile, ensuring the safety of the household and preventing any potential harm. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported during the operation.
Officials stressed that snakes often enter residential areas in rural districts, particularly where vegetation and natural habitats are close to human settlements.
They highlighted that swift reporting by residents is crucial in enabling emergency services to respond effectively.
The Civil Defence Force reminded the public that attempting to capture or kill snakes without professional assistance can be dangerous.
Residents were urged to avoid direct confrontation with reptiles and instead contact emergency services for safe handling.
The Lundu Civil Defence team reaffirmed their operational commitment to act “ready, fast and with integrity”, underscoring their dedication to community safety.
They also advised residents to remain cautious during the current season, as wildlife encounters are more frequent due to changing weather conditions.
Community members expressed appreciation for the rapid intervention, noting that the presence of snakes in homes can cause significant distress.
