NAIROBI – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held an engagement session with leaders of the historic Jamia Mosque in Nairobi, underscoring Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening religious and cultural ties with Kenya’s Muslim community.
The meeting provided a platform for exchanging views on the development of the ummah, focusing on education, da’wah, institutional growth, and the building of a moral and capable society.
Discussions highlighted the importance of nurturing values that promote prosperity, tolerance, and kindness, in line with Islam’s universal principles.
Prime Minister Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s dedication to elevating the dignity of Islam through initiatives that emphasise education, prudent da’wah, and dialogue between civilizations.
He stressed that cooperation with Kenya’s Muslim community is vital to fostering mutual understanding and strengthening social harmony.
Malaysia also pledged to continue efforts in printing and publishing the Quran in multiple languages for global distribution.
This initiative aims to showcase the beauty, simplicity, and mercy at the core of Islamic teachings, making the holy text more accessible to diverse communities worldwide.
As a symbolic gesture of solidarity, Anwar donated a special edition of the Quran, along with two boxes of copies translated into Swahili and featuring Tajweed.
The donation was presented as a sign of knowledge-sharing and the brotherhood of the ummah, reinforcing Malaysia’s role in promoting religious education and compassion across borders.
Leaders of the Jamia Mosque welcomed Malaysia’s initiatives, noting that such cooperation strengthens the foundations of faith while supporting the broader development of society.
The engagement session was seen as a step towards closer collaboration between Malaysia and Kenya’s Muslim institutions, with both sides committed to advancing dialogue and unity.
