Police Arrested A Man in Bau for Suspected Drug Abuse

BAU – Police in Bau have confirmed the arrest of a man in his 30s on suspicion of drug abuse during a patrol operation along Taiton Street.

The arrest took place on 19 May at approximately 11.45 am when officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of Bau District Police Headquarters detained the suspect. Initial urine screening tests indicated that the man tested positive for drugs.

Authorities stated that the suspect is being held under provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which outlines penalties for individuals found to be involved in drug-related offences.

Convictions under this legislation can result in fines or imprisonment, depending on the severity of the case.

Bau District Police Chief, PISUPT Mohd Haide bin A. Rahman, emphasised that the Royal Malaysia Police Department (PDRM) will continue to take firm action against drug abuse in the district.

He reiterated that narcotics offences remain a serious concern in Sarawak, with enforcement agencies working to curb the spread of drug-related activity across communities.

The police have also encouraged members of the public to assist in combating drug abuse by providing information.
