Man Robbed at Knifepoint Behind City Centre Supermarket

MIRI (June 18): A swift manhunt has been launched by Miri police following an armed gang-robbery incident behind a city centre supermarket on Saturday morning.

According to District police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the victim was accosted by two masked assailants at approximately 8:30 AM. One of the suspects brandished a knife and forcibly took the victim’s gold necklace before fleeing in a grey-colored vehicle.

Fortunately, the victim escaped physical harm but suffered a significant loss estimated at RM100,000.

In a statement issued last night, ACP Alexson urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the apprehension of the suspects. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in swiftly resolving such cases.

The Miri police are handling the investigation under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code, which deals with armed and gang-robbery offenses.
