KUCHING – Kuching made history with its first-ever pet-themed market, Meow Pawty 2025, held from 7 to 10 August at Aeroville Mall. The four-day event promised to a joyful celebration of cats, small pets, and community togetherness, attracting thousands of visitors.

The event was officially opened by Mayor of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Dato Wee Hong Seng and Pemanca Tan Kun Gee. Their presence showed strong support for local creative events and animal-friendly initiatives.

Organised by Ocipala Marketing, the event offered a warm and friendly space for pet lovers, families, and vendors. With a focus on cats, small pets, creativity, and healing, the market featured a mix of pet-related stalls, fun workshops, and adoption programmes.

Inside the mall, visitors explored stalls selling handmade accessories, pet snacks, grooming items, and toys. Animal rescue groups also joined the event, raising awareness and helping rescued cats find new homes. Many people were seen giving donations and learning how to care for pets better.

Outside in the corridor area, visitors enjoyed tasty food, local drinks, desserts, and handmade goods. The lively atmosphere made it a perfect weekend outing for families.

One of the most popular spots was the Pet Experience Zone, where visitors got up close with friendly cats like the Maine Coon and Devon Rex. There were also bunnies to cuddle, hamsters to feed, and sharing sessions about small pet care.

Daily programmes added even more fun. The opening day featured a cheerful appearance by local influencer Kamekiang. Workshops like clay tray making, pet care talks, and a cat fashion show kept crowds entertained throughout the weekend.

The event on a high note, with many families adopting pets, vendors reporting strong sales, and organisers receiving positive feedback. Dato Wee Hong Seng praised the effort in promoting pet education and community spirit.

With its overwhelming success, the organisers are planning to make Meow Pawty an annual event to bring even more joy to Kuching’s pet-loving community.
