BINTANGOR – Meradong State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Ding Kuong Hing, continued the cherished Gawai Dayak tradition of ngabang by visiting 10 longhouses in the areas of Sungai Meradong, Kampung Sri Kenyalang, Sungai Kelupu, and Sungai Tulai on Wednesday.
Accompanying him were Chieng Boung Ong, Vice Chairman of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bintangor Branch; Lau Sie Hing, Secretary of SUPP Bintangor Branch; Lee Ngin Soon, Treasurer of the branch; and Kapitan Wong Leh Hee.
Despite Gawai having entered its fourth day, Datuk Ding noted that the festive atmosphere at the longhouses remained vibrant, with various community activities actively organized by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).
During his visit, Datuk Ding took the opportunity to engage with the local community, listening directly to their requests and concerns, while also sharing updates on several of the Sarawak Government’s latest people-centric initiatives.
The highlighted initiatives included the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC), Sarawak Basic Needs Contribution (SKAS), Sarawak Senior Citizens Health Benefit Program (SCHB), Maternity Assistance (BIB), and the Sarawak Endowment Fund (EFS)—all designed to ease the burden of citizens, especially those in rural areas.
