PUTRAJAYA – Following today’s Cabinet Meeting on energy crisis, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), accompanied by the leadership of the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Division (BHESS), convened a post-Cabinet Meeting session to align administrative follow-up actions with recent federal directives.
The discussion focused on enhancing national preparedness regarding potential energy supply disruptions. With the global energy landscape becoming increasingly volatile, the meeting focused on refining coordination between federal agencies to ensure that mitigation measures can be deployed swiftly and effectively across the nation.
A core priority of the meeting was the preservation of public welfare, with particular attention given to basic food supply chains and the maintenance of daily economic stability.
The minister underscored that the specific requirements of Sabah and Sarawak would remain a primary focus, ensuring that federal initiatives are tailored to meet the unique socio-economic realities of the Borneo states.
“Emphasis was also placed on efforts to preserve the welfare of the people, especially in terms of basic food supply and daily economic stability,” the Minister’s office noted in a statement. “In this regard, the specific needs of Sarawak and Sabah will continue to be prioritised so that each initiative truly meets local realities and needs.”
Beyond state-level administration, the meeting addressed the role of individual responsibility in resource management. The minister called for increased public awareness regarding energy conservation, highlighting that individual habits are a critical component in ensuring long-term national sustainability.
The session also reinforced the importance of national unity as the backbone of Malaysia’s resilience against global challenges.
The leadership reiterated that the close partnership between Sabah, Sarawak, and the Peninsula remains the foundation of the country’s sovereign strength.
Furthermore, the meeting expressed firm support for the Prime Minister’s moderate and neutral stance on the international stage, noting that this diplomatic approach is vital for protecting Malaysia’s interests in an increasingly complex global environment.
The meeting saw high-level participation, with the Federal Secretaries (SUP) of both Sabah and Sarawak present in person. Additionally, representatives from the Labuan Native Court joined the discussion via a virtual platform, ensuring a comprehensive consultation process involving key regional stakeholders.
