MIRI – The Miri City Council has officially launched the call for nominations for the 2025 Miri Mayor’s Award, an annual ceremony honouring those who have made significant contributions to the city’s development. The announcement was made at a press conference led by Miri Mayor Adam Yii.
Now in its sixth edition, the award scheme serves as a vital platform for recognising the efforts of individuals, organisations, and community groups.
Mayor Yii stressed that the initiative is designed to celebrate the dedication and spirit of those who have helped shape Miri into a more dynamic, safe, and vibrant urban centre.
The awards are open to people from all walks of life, and nominations are accepted across a wide range of categories.
These include Environment, Tourism, Education, Youth, Culture, Arts, Sports, Public Health, and Community Work, reflecting the multifaceted progress of the city.
The evaluation of candidates will be based on key criteria such as community impact, innovation, leadership, and a commitment to social inclusion.
The nomination period is open from 7 October to 7 November 2025. Applications can be submitted online via a Google Form on the official Miri City Council website, or by downloading a PDF form from miricouncil.gov.my.
This recognition programme aligns with the council’s broader vision for Miri’s future. The city has recently earned accolades for its public service and smart city initiatives, including a prestigious 5-star rating for local authority performance and a Silver Award at the Seoul Smart City Prize for its human-centric policies.
