MIRI: The Miri District Police successfully dismantled an armed robbery syndicate within 24 hours following a violent break-in at a semi-detached house in Taman Viana, Jalan Bakam.
Miri District Police Chief confirmed that they received a 999 emergency call reporting a robbery in progress. A team from the Criminal Investigation Division of Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD) was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the suspects had already fled. However, thanks to swift public cooperation, the police managed to track and apprehend the group shortly after.
Four individuals, including one local man and three foreign nationals aged between 38 and 57, were arrested. Police also seized a range of items believed to be linked to the crime, including a utility knife, cutter, face masks, clothing, the suspect’s vehicle, watches, jewellery, personal documents, and a bag containing cash suspected to belong to the victim.

The arrested individuals are believed to be connected to a series of armed robberies in Miri spanning 2024 and 2025.
All suspects have been remanded for seven days from 20 June to 27 June 2025 to assist in further investigations.
The police expressed gratitude for the public’s timely information and urged homeowners to enhance security with measures such as sturdy fences, grills, CCTV, and alarm systems.
