MIRI – The city is preparing to host its sixteenth annual Christmas parade next month, continuing a tradition that has become a signature event in the local cultural calendar. The Miri City Christmas Parade (MCCP) 2025 is scheduled for 6 December, with expectations of drawing thousands of spectators from across the community.
Datuk Bandar Miri, Adam Yii Siew Sang, announced that this year’s celebration will carry the theme “Jesus Christ, Our Peace”. The concept is inspired by the biblical verse John 16:33 and aims to promote messages of unity, harmony, and peace among Miri’s multi-ethnic and multi-faith population.
Speaking at a press conference, Yii, who serves as the Co-Chairman of MCCP 2025, emphasised the inclusive nature of the event. He stated that the parade is a celebration for everyone, irrespective of age, race, or religious background, serving as a platform to strengthen communal bonds and cooperation.
The procession is set to commence at 5:00 PM from the Miri City Fan area. It will then proceed along a designated route covering several major roads, including Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Brooke, and Jalan Bendahara, before returning to its starting point.

Adding significance to the occasion, the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, is expected to attend. His presence underscores the event’s importance as a major community gathering in the northern region of Sarawak.
The parade will feature a vibrant array of performances, including carolling groups and dance troupes from participating churches. The entertainment lineup will also include special appearances by popular local artists Melissa Francis and Ramles Walter.
The press conference was attended by several key figures ensuring the event’s smooth operation, including ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, the Miri District Police Chief, and Petrick Linggie Taboh, the Deputy Secretary of the Miri City Council. Representatives from various churches and government departments were also present.
This event highlights the city’s reputation for successful multicultural celebrations. It reflects the broader spirit of coexistence that characterises social life in Sarawak, where diverse religious and cultural festivities are openly celebrated and supported by the entire community.
The Miri City Christmas Parade has grown significantly in scale and popularity since its inception. It now stands as one of the most anticipated annual events in the city, attracting participants and visitors from across the state and beyond.
