MPP Hosts Buy Back Campaign to Promote Recycling

KUCHING – The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) held its Buy Back Campaign 2026 today at Emart Batu Kawa, encouraging residents to bring recyclable items and participate in efforts to protect the environment.

The event, which ran from 8.00am to 12.00pm at the car park area of Emart Batu Kawa, drew strong support from the public.

MPP Chairman Cr Tan Kai presented a certificate of appreciation to Emart Batu Kawa 24hours for sponsoring the venue, while MPP Municipal Secretary Ir Ts Goh Thiam Ho was also present to witness the occasion.

The campaign was designed to raise awareness of sustainable waste management and recycling practices. In addition to the buyback initiative, MPP set up a mobile counter to facilitate payment of assessment rates. Ratepayers were reminded to bring their identification cards or current bills to ensure smooth processing.

Awareness booths were also established, focusing on recycling education and public health. These booths provided information on how households can reduce waste, recycle effectively, and adopt healthier practices that benefit both families and the wider community.
