MUKAH – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force Mukah branch (APM Mukah) was called into action following a report of a snake discovered inside a residential room.
The incident, which occurred on 18 April, prompted an immediate response from the local operations team.
According to APM Mukah, the reptile was identified as a rock snake measuring approximately one foot in length.
The team deployed standard handling equipment and successfully secured the animal using a pincer technique, ensuring that the situation was swiftly brought under control.
Officials confirmed that no injuries or damage were reported during the operation. The presence of the snake caused concern among residents, but the rapid intervention by APM ensured that the environment was safe and stable shortly after their arrival.
Snake encounters are not uncommon in Sarawak, particularly in residential areas close to vegetation or water sources.
Wildlife experts note that rock snakes, while not considered highly dangerous, can still cause alarm due to their sudden appearance indoors.
The Civil Defence Force regularly reminds the public to avoid attempting to capture snakes themselves and instead to contact trained personnel.
