MUKAH – Police in Mukah have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of drug abuse during a raid in the Jalan Boyan area.
The operation was conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Mukah District Police Headquarters on 12 May 2026 at approximately 10.40 am.
The raid took place under an abandoned barracks, where the suspect was found in a dazed condition, believed to be under the influence of drugs.
Officers did not discover any illegal items at the scene. The man was taken to the Mukah District Police headquarters for further investigation.
A urine test later confirmed that the suspect was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
If convicted, the suspect could face imprisonment of up to two years or a fine not exceeding RM5,000. Additionally, the law allows for immediate supervision for a period not exceeding three years.
Police confirmed that the suspect is being detained at the Mukah Police Station while investigations continue. Authorities emphasised that the arrest reflects their ongoing commitment to tackling drug abuse in the district.
Mukah District Police have reiterated their stance that drug abuse poses a serious threat to community safety and wellbeing.
