MyLesen Program Empowers Batu Kitang Youth with Affordable B2 Licenses

KUCHING – The Closing Ceremony of the Class B2 Driving License Assistance Program (MyLesen) for DUN N.13 Batu Kitang was held successfully, marking another step forward in helping the local community gain access to affordable motorcycle licenses.

The event, organised by the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ), was attended by Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, together with YB Senator Dato’ Ahmad bin Dato’ Sri Hj Ibrahim, MPP Councillor Gerald Goh, Councillor Alvin Chong, and community leader Albert Lee.

The MyLesen initiative has been introduced nationwide to ease the financial burden of obtaining a Class B2 motorcycle license, particularly for youths and lower-income groups. By offering a more affordable rate, the programme aims to enhance road safety while providing mobility opportunities for those who rely on motorcycles as their main mode of transport.

Speaking at the event, Lo Khere Chiang expressed his appreciation to JPJ for organising the programme in Batu Kitang, adding that it is a meaningful way to support young people and residents who need assistance in securing a valid motorcycle license.

“This initiative not only improves safety on the road but also empowers our community to move forward with better access to education, work, and daily activities. I believe more Batu Kitang residents will benefit from MyLesen in the coming years,” he said.

The programme has already seen positive response from local participants, many of whom successfully obtained their licenses under the scheme. The involvement of community leaders and government representatives further reflected strong support for efforts that directly benefit grassroots communities.

As the ceremony concluded, successful participants were congratulated, with hopes that similar programmes will continue to reach more residents across Sarawak.
