KUCHING – The SM07 ART Station at Northbank is approaching completion, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Project.
Sarawak Metro confirmed that the station, currently the most advanced under construction, is set to become a vital stop along the ART network.
The project team recently conducted a site inspection to review progress and observe how the facility is taking shape.
Strategically located within a growing commercial and residential hub, the station is expected to provide seamless connectivity for commuters travelling between Kota Samarahan and Kuching city.
Once operational, it will serve as a key transport node, enhancing mobility and reducing travel time for thousands of daily passengers.
The station will also be supported by feeder bus services, ensuring wider accessibility for residents and visitors.
This integration is designed to improve convenience and encourage greater use of public transport, aligning with Sarawak’s broader vision of sustainable urban mobility.
The KUTS Project, spearheaded by Sarawak Metro, represents a major investment in modernising the state’s public transport infrastructure.
The ART system, which combines advanced technology with eco-friendly operations, is expected to ease traffic congestion and provide a reliable alternative to private vehicles.
Local stakeholders have welcomed the development, noting that the Northbank station will not only benefit commuters but also contribute to the growth of surrounding businesses and residential areas.
Improved connectivity is anticipated to boost economic activity and enhance the quality of life for communities along the route.
As construction nears completion, attention is now turning to final preparations, including safety checks, operational testing and integration with the wider ART network.
Sarawak Metro has reiterated its commitment to delivering the project on schedule, ensuring that the station meets international standards of efficiency and passenger comfort.
The SM07 ART Station is part of a larger initiative to transform Kuching and Kota Samarahan into well-connected urban centres, supporting Sarawak’s long-term development goals.
With the station nearing readiness, residents can look forward to a new era of accessible, modern and sustainable public transport.
