ASAJAYA – Firefighters from the Asajaya Fire and Rescue Station carried out a special service operation on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, to clear an oil spill in front of Tamu Pekan, Asajaya.
The incident involved a civilian car that had leaked oil from its engine while parked near the busy marketplace.
The spill posed a potential hazard to road users and pedestrians, prompting immediate action by Bravo Team of BBP Asajaya.
Operation Commander PBK I Abg Othman Bin Abg Sharbini led the response team. Upon arrival, the firefighters conducted a quick assessment of the situation and confirmed that the oil had spread across the road surface.
To mitigate risks, the team deployed one hose reel from the LFRT Atego machinery to flush the affected area.
This ensured that the oil residue was removed effectively, preventing accidents and restoring safety for motorists and pedestrians.
Once the flushing work was completed and the road surface was deemed safe, the team returned to the station.
The operation was executed swiftly and professionally, reflecting the department’s commitment to public safety and readiness to respond to emergencies.
The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia continues to remind the public to report such incidents promptly, as oil spills can lead to slippery conditions and increase the risk of accidents.
Their proactive measures highlight the importance of maintaining safety in public spaces, particularly in busy town centres such as Asajaya.
Bravo Team’s efficient handling of the situation demonstrates the department’s dedication to protecting communities across Sarawak.
Their actions ensured that normal activities at Tamu Pekan could resume without disruption, reinforcing public confidence in the department’s fast and friendly service.
