SARIKEI – The Sarikei Division of the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) successfully carried out a targeted operation under OPS SAPU early this morning, leading to the arrest of 17 illegal immigrants in Ulu Pedanum Estate, Jalan Pakan.
The operation, which began around 2.00 am, was executed by a team of 12 enforcement officers from JIM Sarikei. The well-coordinated raid followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance efforts aimed at identifying and disrupting illegal entry and employment activities in plantation areas.
According to a statement by JIM Sarawak, the detainees consist of 14 men, two women, and one child — all Indonesian nationals. They are suspected of committing various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963.
“All individuals detained were found without valid travel or work documents. They have been taken to the Sarikei Immigration Office for documentation before being transferred to the Immigration Detention Depot for further investigation and action,” the statement read.
The department confirmed that the operation was carried out smoothly without any unwanted incidents, thanks to the coordinated effort and professionalism of the enforcement officers involved.
The Sarawak Immigration Department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strict border control and preventing illegal entry into the state. It emphasized that such enforcement activities will continue to be conducted regularly, especially in areas suspected of harbouring or employing illegal immigrants.
“JIM Sarawak will not compromise on any violations of the country’s immigration laws. Our focus remains on safeguarding national security, public order, and sovereignty,” the department added.
