Woman Seriously Injured in Trailer Accident on Sibu-Selangau Pan Borneo Highway

SELANGAU – A woman was seriously injured, while a man and a young boy sustained minor injuries in a trailer accident along the Sibu-Selangau stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway this afternoon.

According to the Sarawak Fire Operations Centre (PGO), a distress call regarding the incident was received at 12.14 pm. In response, five personnel from the Selangau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) together with a Fire Rescue Vehicle (FRT) were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the team discovered that the accident involved a trailer lorry in a self-inflicted crash. There were three victims in the vehicle — an adult woman who was seriously injured, as well as an adult man and a child who only suffered minor injuries,” the statement said.

The victims, however, were not trapped in the vehicle. Members of the public nearby acted swiftly to help free them before the arrival of the fire brigade.

“All victims were later transported to hospital by a Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) ambulance. No rescue operations were required by the fire brigade at the site,” the spokesperson added.

The condition of the woman remains under close medical observation, while the man and the boy are reported to be in stable condition.

The accident has once again raised concerns about road safety along the Pan Borneo Highway, which has seen frequent accidents involving heavy vehicles. Authorities continue to advise drivers to remain alert and cautious, especially when driving along high-traffic routes.

Police are expected to conduct further investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.
