PANTU – A Perodua Aruz carrying five passengers was involved in a head-on accident before skidding onto the road shoulder along the Pan Borneo Highway near Kampung Selantik this morning.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), the incident was reported at 11.38 am, prompting the dispatch of a rescue team from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station (BBP). The team, led by Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer I Mohamad Fadhli Buyong, consisted of seven personnel and arrived at the scene at 12.15 pm using a fire rescue vehicle (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Services (EMRS) vehicle.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that all victims had already been rescued by members of the public. PGO confirmed that two of the victims sustained injuries and were immediately transported to hospital in the EMRS vehicle for further medical treatment.
The remaining three passengers, who escaped serious injuries, were still under the care of police officers and Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel at the scene for further assessment.
Authorities confirmed that the situation was successfully brought under control and the victims were safely handed over to the relevant agencies for follow-up action. The operation officially concluded once the scene was declared safe.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and road users are advised to drive carefully along the Pan Borneo Highway, especially in high-traffic or accident-prone areas.
This incident highlights the quick response of both the public and emergency teams, ensuring that all five victims survived the crash.
