PM Anwar and Hajiji Meet Salut Traders, Hear Community Voices

TUARAN – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor took time after a programme with community leaders and entrepreneurs to visit local traders in Kampung Salut, Tuaran.

The leaders stopped at stalls selling lokan and kelapa bakar, where they greeted residents and engaged directly with the community.

The informal visit was aimed at listening to the concerns of ordinary citizens and understanding the realities of daily life in the area.

During the walkabout, Anwar met Aminah Sulaiman, a villager who had travelled specially to meet him.

She expressed her gratitude for the welfare initiatives introduced under the MADANI Government, saying that the assistance schemes had eased the burden on her family and neighbours.

Aminah explained that since the rollout of various support programmes, villagers felt more secure knowing that help was available in times of need.

Her words reflected the broader sentiment among many residents who have benefited from targeted aid measures, including cash assistance, food subsidies, and community development projects.

The Prime Minister noted that such encounters reinforced his determination to continue refining policies to ensure fairness and inclusivity.

He emphasised that the government’s priority was to guarantee that every household, regardless of background, could share in the nation’s progress.

The visit to Kampung Salut followed a closed-door meeting earlier in the day at the Sulaman State House, where Anwar and Hajiji engaged with local leaders and entrepreneurs.

Discussions centred on strengthening federal-state cooperation and ensuring that Sabah’s development needs are addressed in partnership with Putrajaya.

Observers highlighted that Anwar’s outreach in Tuaran reflects the government’s broader strategy of engaging directly with communities to build trust and demonstrate responsiveness.

The MADANI framework, introduced by Anwar, focuses on sustainable development, social justice, and equitable distribution of resources across Malaysia.

As Sabah prepares for its state election, such grassroots engagements are seen as crucial in shaping public confidence.

The Prime Minister’s message underscored the importance of listening to citizens’ voices and ensuring that national policies translate into tangible benefits for local communities.
