KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has voiced strong support for the Royal Address delivered by Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar during the Opening Ceremony of the Fifth Term of the 15th Parliament this morning.
His Majesty’s decree placed sharp emphasis on the fight against systemic and entrenched corruption, describing it as a direct threat to the welfare of the people, national security, and the integrity of Malaysia’s administration. The King went further, labelling corruption as an act of treason against the country.
Prime Minister Anwar echoed these sentiments, stressing that corruption must be eradicated comprehensively to protect Malaysia’s future. He noted that His Majesty’s words serve as a reminder of the urgent need to strengthen institutional reforms to reinforce democratic governance.
Tuanku also highlighted the importance of education reforms aligned with the National Education Policy, ensuring that Bahasa Melayu and Malaysian history remain central to the nation’s identity. His Majesty urged all parties to uphold unity between regions, warning against actions that could incite division or foster suspicion.
Prime Minister Anwar expressed hope that the parliamentary session will deliver tangible benefits to the people, particularly in terms of economic development and national progress. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to prioritising reforms that safeguard integrity, strengthen institutions, and foster inclusivity across Malaysia.
“May this conference bring more benefits to the people and the country in terms of economic development and the progress of our beloved country, God willing,” Anwar said.
The Royal Address and Prime Minister’s response set a decisive tone for the Fifth Term of the 15th Parliament, signalling that anti-corruption measures, institutional reforms, and unity will be central themes in the months ahead.
