KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has approved an immediate allocation of RM10 million through the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) to assist flood victims in Sabah.
The amount, he said, is in addition to the RM11 million already channelled through the Sabah state government to carry out urgent repairs of basic facilities in the affected areas.
“I am deeply saddened by the impact of the floods in Sabah. I have directed the entire MADANI Government machinery to be mobilised immediately to ensure that assistance reaches the people without delay,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Anwar stressed that the government’s main priority is to protect the safety, welfare and livelihood of all flood victims.
At the same time, the Prime Minister urged Malaysians from all walks of life to come together in helping those affected by the disaster.
“Let us demonstrate solidarity, compassion and shared responsibility in facing this calamity,” he added.
According to the latest report from NADMA, as of 8 am today, a total of 415 flood victims from 113 families have been evacuated and placed at two temporary relief centres and one permanent relief centre in Sabah.
The Prime Minister also reassured the public that the government will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide the necessary assistance to ensure victims receive adequate shelter, food, and medical support.
Floods in Sabah have displaced families, damaged infrastructure and disrupted daily activities, particularly in rural areas. The aid is expected to help restore essential facilities and provide immediate relief for those affected.
The government has also called on non-governmental organisations (NGOs), volunteers and private bodies to extend their cooperation in delivering support to flood-hit communities.
This immediate response reflects Putrajaya’s continued commitment to disaster preparedness and to safeguarding the welfare of Malaysians affected by natural calamities.
