TAMBUN – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited the Ar-Rashid Mosque in Tambun, where he met members of the local community, including representatives of the Orang Asli from Kampung Makmur.
During the visit, he announced an allocation of RM400,000 to upgrade the mosque’s infrastructure, reaffirming the MADANI government’s commitment to strengthening religious institutions across the country.
Anwar explained that the funding reflects the administration’s broader aim of supporting community facilities while ensuring inclusivity. He noted that the mosque plays a vital role in fostering unity and providing a space for worship and social engagement.
In his address, Anwar also touched on global developments, warning that the ongoing energy crisis has become more severe due to escalating tensions in West Asia.
He pointed to the Israeli strike on Iran, backed by the United States, as a trigger for disruptions in oil supply chains, which have driven up costs worldwide, including in Malaysia.
Despite these pressures, Anwar stressed that the government remains committed to shielding citizens from the worst effects of rising energy prices.
He highlighted that the price of RON95 petrol has been maintained at RM1.99 per litre, among the lowest globally, while subsidies for diesel continue to be channelled to fishermen, farmers, traders and eligible groups.
According to Anwar, subsidy expenditure has now reached nearly RM6 billion per month, underscoring the scale of the government’s intervention to ease the burden on households and businesses.
He emphasised that such measures are part of the administration’s responsibility to protect the people during challenging times.
The Prime Minister urged Malaysians not to allow economic difficulties to create division or blame within society.
Instead, he called for collective resilience, discipline and wisdom in facing these challenges. He assured us that the government is prepared to listen to the concerns of citizens through ongoing engagement with communities at all levels.
Anwar concluded his remarks by encouraging gratitude and shared responsibility, citing a verse from the Qur’an: “Indeed, if you are grateful, I will surely increase you in My favour; but if you are ungrateful, indeed, My punishment is painful.”
He expressed confidence that with unity and perseverance, Malaysia will be able to overcome current trials and continue building a stronger, more inclusive society.
