The solemn event brought together about 600 serving and retired police personnel in a respectful and orderly setting. The ceremony was led by Julian Leow Beng Kim, who guided the congregation in prayers seeking blessings, protection, and strength for all members of the force as they carry out their duties in safeguarding the nation.

Also present at the ceremony was Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories). Upon her arrival, she was received by Deputy Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), Dennis Lim Kwang Keng, who also serves as chairman of the organising committee. He was accompanied by his wife, Datin Tan Yean Nee, who is vice chairman of the Bukit Aman JSJ Police Family Association.

The annual programme continues to play an important role in fostering unity and mutual respect among PDRM personnel from diverse backgrounds. Beyond its religious significance, the gathering serves as a platform to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and reinforce shared values among officers and their families.

Organisers highlighted that the prayer session was not only about spiritual reflection but also about encouraging resilience and dedication among police personnel. In a profession that often involves risk and sacrifice, such initiatives are seen as vital in maintaining morale and emotional well-being.

The ceremony also reflects Malaysia’s multicultural identity, where members of different faiths are given the space to observe meaningful traditions while contributing to national service. Events like this underline the importance of harmony within the force, which is essential for effective law enforcement and community trust.

As the nation marks the 219th Police Day, the commitment of PDRM personnel remains clear — to uphold peace, maintain security, and serve the public with integrity. The prayer gathering at St John’s Cathedral stands as a reminder of the values that continue to guide the force in fulfilling its responsibilities.
