Police Nab Two Robbers Within Hours in Saratok

SARATOK – A robbery attempt by two local men aiming to make a quick profit ended in failure when the police arrested them less than five hours after the crime took place.

The incident happened around 3.00 pm at Simpang Ulu Krian, where the suspects allegedly targeted and stole equipment belonging to a telecommunications company. Their criminal activity, however, was short-lived.

According to Saratok District Police Chief, DSP Mathew Manggie, the suspects, aged 25 and 29, were tracked down and arrested at approximately 8.00 pm in Taman Seroja Indah. Their arrest was the result of swift and precise action by the police investigation team.

“Initial investigations revealed the suspects stole one electric generator unit, two current converter units, and a ladder. The estimated total loss was around RM19,000,” DSP Mathew said in a statement today.

Thanks to the prompt police response, all stolen items were successfully recovered and will be used as evidence in the case.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which pertains to housebreaking and theft. If convicted, the suspects could face up to 14 years of imprisonment, a fine, or even whipping.

DSP Mathew reiterated the police’s strong commitment to keeping the Saratok community safe. “We will not compromise when it comes to public safety. Our efforts to combat crime will continue with full force,” he said.

This incident serves as a reminder that criminal activities will not go unnoticed, and the authorities remain vigilant in protecting public and private property.
