KUCHING: Political stability in Sarawak has been the cornerstone of the state’s impressive progress, particularly in executing large-scale infrastructure projects, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said during a recent event.
Speaking at the 2025 MADANI Aidilfitri Celebration held at Perpaduan Stadium in Petra Jaya, the Prime Minister highlighted Sarawak as a model of forward-thinking development. He pointed out that Sarawak remains unique among Malaysian states for committing significant state resources to the development of vital infrastructure like bridges, highways, and water supply systems.

“Sarawak has been a trailblazer in allocating state funds to major infrastructure, surpassing many other states. This success is built on a stable political environment, visionary leadership, and an openness to new ideas,” said Anwar.
Anwar commended Sarawak’s leadership under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg for his continued role in guiding the state toward growth. He also acknowledged the state government’s commitment to tapping into local talent, ensuring that progress is driven by those who understand the unique needs of Sarawak’s people.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Sarawak’s development is supported by the Federal Government, particularly in the rapidly growing energy and gas sectors. These industries, he noted, play a significant role in enhancing the well-being of the people. “I fully support Sarawak’s development direction, especially in energy and gas industries. The Federal Government will continue to work closely with the State Government to bring these strategic projects to fruition,” he stated.
Anwar also praised the proactive approach of the Sarawak Government, noting that it doesn’t wait for federal approvals but instead uses state resources to expedite important projects for the benefit of the people. “When I hear of a state that works swiftly, proposes new ideas, and delivers public amenities quickly — as Prime Minister, I can only say ‘alhamdulillah’ — keep up the good work,” he remarked.
For Anwar, the key to Sarawak’s continued success is the political stability and the ability to have open communication between the State and Federal Governments. This collaboration ensures that development can proceed without unnecessary obstacles, benefiting the people of Sarawak.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including Sarawak Deputy Premiers, state ministers, and other distinguished guests, all of whom play a part in driving the state’s success. — UKAS EDITION
