Solidarity Porridge Programme in Jepak Supports 120 Asnaf

BINTULU – The Let’s Cook Solidarity Porridge and Food Basket 2026 programme, held at the Kampung Warisan Jepak Futsal Field on Saturday, brought festive cheer to the local community and strengthened bonds among residents.

During the event, 120 asnaf families received food baskets, helping to ease their burdens during Ramadan. In addition, bubur lambuk was prepared and shared collectively with the surrounding community, reflecting the spirit of generosity and togetherness.

Jepak State Assemblyman Iskandar Turkee said the programme was made possible through a collaboration between the Jepak Kampung Expansion Scheme Neighbourhood Committee (KRT), the Department of National Unity and National Integration (JPNIN), Bintulu Parliament, and Tong Seng Huat (Bintulu) Sdn. Bhd.

He highlighted that such joint efforts demonstrate a strong commitment to community welfare. “Programmes like this are meaningful because they not only ease the burdens of the less fortunate but also show the care of various parties for the community’s well-being,” he said.

Iskandar also noted that Tong Seng Huat’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative has become an annual tradition, showing ongoing support for the welfare of Jepak residents. He expressed gratitude to all involved, including volunteers and villagers, who came together to prepare and distribute the porridge.

The programme underscored the importance of cooperation between government agencies, corporate partners, and local communities in supporting vulnerable groups. By combining food aid with community engagement, the event promoted not just assistance but also unity and compassion.

Initiatives like this play a vital role in strengthening social bonds, especially during Ramadan, when generosity and solidarity are most celebrated. The Jepak programme serves as a shining example of how collective action can bring joy and relief to families while nurturing a strong community spirit.
