GEDONG – The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, attended the Gedong District Aidilfitri 2026 Ramah Tamah Ceremony at the Satria Pertiwi Complex on Friday evening.
The event brought together community members and dignitaries in a festive atmosphere, marking the end of the Ramadan season with a celebration of unity and cultural tradition.
The Premier’s presence underscored the importance of strengthening ties between state leadership and local communities.
During the ceremony, the premier officiated the presentation of a certificate confirming the extension of the Gedong district chief’s tenure.
A certificate of appreciation was also handed to the outgoing chief, recognising their contributions and service to the district. This gesture highlighted the state’s commitment to acknowledging leadership roles at the grassroots level.
The evening continued with a Hari Raya feast, where attendees enjoyed a wide range of traditional dishes. The communal meal reflected the spirit of Aidilfitri, emphasising togetherness and cultural heritage.
Several prominent figures joined the premier at the event. Among them were his daughter, Dayang Norjihan, Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and Sarawak Utilities and Telecommunications Minister Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo, Advisor to the Ministry of International Trade and Investment Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee, and Samarahan Division Resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang.
The gathering served not only as a festive occasion but also as a platform for reinforcing community bonds and recognising the contributions of local leaders.
