The Premier’s participation added significance to the event, which was designed to foster camaraderie and strengthen cooperation among elected representatives and political leaders across the state. His presence underscored the importance of informal platforms that encourage unity and collaboration beyond the legislative chamber.

Several State Assemblymen (ADUNs) and Political Secretaries representing constituencies throughout Sarawak also joined the competition. The gathering provided an opportunity for leaders to interact in a relaxed setting while engaging in a sport that demands focus, discipline, and precision.

The competition unfolded in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere, with participants demonstrating their shooting skills across different categories. Organisers highlighted that the event was not only recreational but also aimed at instilling values such as concentration, discipline, and sportsmanship among those taking part.

Throughout the evening, the Premier mingled with participants and guests, taking time to observe several rounds of the competition. His engagement was seen as a gesture of support for initiatives that bring together leaders from diverse backgrounds to strengthen bonds of trust and cooperation.

The GPS Backbenchers Shooting Competition has become a notable fixture in the political calendar, offering elected representatives a chance to connect outside of formal duties. By encouraging teamwork and mutual respect, the event contributes to the broader goal of maintaining unity within the state’s leadership.

Observers noted that such programmes play a vital role in reinforcing solidarity among government leaders and representatives, ensuring that collaboration remains strong in the pursuit of Sarawak’s development. The Premier’s involvement served as a reminder of the value of shared experiences in building lasting partnerships.

As Sarawak continues to advance its political and social agenda, activities like the shooting competition highlight the importance of fostering relationships that go beyond policy discussions. The event at Batu Kawa demonstrated how recreational initiatives can strengthen the spirit of cooperation and unity among leaders, ultimately benefiting the wider community.
