Prime Minister Leads Special Sarawak Development Meeting for 2025

KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim chaired the highly anticipated 2025 Special Sarawak Development Meeting at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Saturday. This strategic meeting was aimed at further strengthening collaboration between the Federal Government and the Sarawak Government in a bid to drive comprehensive and sustainable development in the region.

Among the dignitaries present were Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof, along with Sarawak Deputy Premiers, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian. Senior government officials, including Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and other prominent figures, were also in attendance.

The meeting kicked off with a detailed presentation by Dato Janin Girie, the Chief Executive Officer of Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS), who highlighted the Sarawak Gas Roadmap (SGR). His presentation outlined the strategic initiatives to boost Sarawak’s gas sector. The plans include increasing natural gas production, expanding energy infrastructure, and attracting downstream investments, all aimed at reinforcing Sarawak’s position as a leading energy hub in the region.

Following this, Sarawak Financial Secretary Dato Sri Dr. Wan Lizozman Wan Omar provided a comprehensive briefing on the role of the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS). He emphasized how DBOS is instrumental in financing vital projects across infrastructure, education, and entrepreneurship that directly benefit the people of Sarawak, contributing significantly to regional economic development.

The meeting ended with a symbolic gesture of goodwill, where the Sarawak Premier presented a souvenir to the Prime Minister as a token of appreciation for his presence and support towards Sarawak’s growth and development. — UKAS EDITION
