Proton Persona Catches Fire on Jalan Padang Kerbau, No Injuries Reported

MIRI, 25 March 2025 A Proton Persona was completely destroyed by fire this afternoon on Jalan Padang Kerbau, Pujut Corner, Miri. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 pm, causing concern among passersby.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO), they received an emergency call at 1:21 pm. Following the report, the Operations Response Team (PKO) was immediately dispatched to the location, which is about five kilometres from the nearest fire station.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 1:28 pm and quickly began their firefighting efforts. They used two auxiliary hoses and a mechanical pump to douse the flames completely. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, and the estimated loss incurred due to the damage has yet to be determined.

Zone 6 Fire Investigation Officer was also present at the scene to assess the situation.

This incident serves as a reminder for vehicle owners to conduct regular maintenance checks to prevent unexpected fires. Drivers are advised to inspect their cars for electrical issues, fuel leaks, or overheating problems, which could lead to such accidents.
