Puan Dayang Norjihan Strengthens Legacy of Late Mother with Visit to Madrasah Al-Junied, Singapore

SINGAPORE – Continuing the noble legacy of her late mother, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang, the daughter of the Sarawak Premier, Puan Dayang Norjihan, paid a heartfelt visit to Madrasah Al-Junied Al-Islamiah in Singapore on Friday.

The visit, organised by the Women’s Division of the Sarawak Government Members’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK Wanita), served as a gesture of continued friendship and respect between Sarawak and one of Singapore’s most prominent Islamic educational institutions.

Upon arrival, Puan Dayang Norjihan and the MAKSAK Wanita delegation were warmly received by Madrasah Principal Herman Cher Ma’in, along with teachers and administrators of the school. The visit reflected the enduring connection established years ago by her late mother, who had also visited and supported the madrasah during her lifetime.

During the session, Puan Dayang Norjihan and the delegation held a Tahlil prayer to honour and remember the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani. The moment was filled with emotion, marking the continuation of a bond built on shared values of education, faith, and community service.

In addition, Puan Dayang Norjihan presented a donation to Madrasah Al-Junied Al-Islamiah as part of MAKSAK Wanita’s charitable outreach, aimed at supporting the school’s educational and welfare programmes.

The visit also included a tour of the Madrasah’s science laboratory, a facility that was previously officiated by her late mother. This symbolic stop reinforced the family’s commitment to advancing Islamic education and empowering youth through knowledge and technology.

Puan Dayang Norjihan was accompanied by MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak Chairman, Dato Baduyah Bujang, and the wife of the Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Dato Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud.

The visit underscored the spirit of unity and shared values between Sarawak and Singapore, and the lasting impact of the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani’s contributions to education and community development. – Sarawakku
