SARIKEI – Quality education and a supportive learning environment have been emphasised as vital foundations for children’s success, particularly at the kindergarten and nursery stages.
Sarikei Division Resident, Datu Michael Ronnie Langgong, underscored the importance of collaboration between educators, parents and the wider community in building strong foundations for early education.
He noted that children’s achievements are not solely the result of their own perseverance but are also shaped by the dedication of teachers and teaching assistants who consistently uphold their responsibilities.
Speaking through a text read by Sarikei District Officer Louis Yeo Soon Guan at the Sarikei Parliament 2025 Kindergarten and Nursery Children’s Appreciation Day Ceremony on Thursday, Datu Michael highlighted the role of appreciation events in motivating children to strive for excellence.
“Appreciation ceremonies like this can fuel the spirit of children to continue to excel. It is also an appreciation for teachers who have educated with great patience,” he said.
He stressed that learning continuity between home and school is crucial, with parents playing a central role in monitoring and guiding their children’s development.
This partnership, he explained, ensures that children receive consistent support both academically and emotionally.
Datu Michael also shared that children from Tabika and Taska KEMAS Sarikei have actively participated in events at zonal and national levels through KEMAS Potential Day 2025.
He congratulated the participants, mentor teachers and KEMAS staff for their commitment, which has led to notable achievements.
He further emphasised that early education must be fully utilised, as it lays the groundwork for children’s knowledge, skills and personality before they advance to higher levels of schooling.
“Early education is the foundation for shaping children’s excellence and must be nurtured carefully,” he remarked.
The ceremony served as a reminder of the collective responsibility in ensuring children receive the best possible education.
Datu Michael called on all stakeholders to continue playing their part in strengthening educational opportunities, thereby securing a more focused and promising future for the younger generation.
The event celebrated the efforts of educators and parents alike, reinforcing the message that quality education is not only about academic achievement but also about building resilience, character and lifelong learning habits.
