MIRI, 8 May 2025 – A swift response by firefighters from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Lutong) managed to put out a small bush fire along Jalan Pantai Lutong early this morning, preventing it from spreading further.
According to a spokesperson from BBP Lutong, they received an emergency call at 6.05am alerting them of the fire. In response, a five-member team was immediately dispatched to the location, equipped with firefighting machinery.

“The team arrived at the scene by 6.16am and found that the fire had affected approximately 0.001 hectares of bush area,” the spokesperson said in a press statement.
Firefighters wasted no time and began measuring the affected area before deploying a 100-foot hose to douse the flames. Within just 10 minutes, the team had the situation under control.
“The operation to fully extinguish the fire was completed by 6.38am,” he added.
No injuries or property damage were reported during the incident.
The spokesperson also took the opportunity to remind the public to remain alert, especially during the current dry weather. “Please report any suspicious activities or signs of open burning immediately to the nearest fire station. Early reporting can prevent dangerous situations from getting worse.”
This incident highlights the importance of community cooperation and quick action by emergency responders in preventing small fires from becoming major disasters.
