TULID – The federal government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing long-standing infrastructure and welfare concerns in Sabah, with emphasis on ensuring that citizens’ rights are upheld without political interference.
During a community engagement programme in Tulid, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim met with local leaders and residents to hear their concerns directly.
The session, part of the Friendly Programme with the Leaders and Community of Tulid DUN, provided a platform for grassroots voices to highlight persistent issues such as water supply, electricity and Internet connectivity.
The Prime Minister stressed that the MADANI Government is determined to resolve these challenges, many of which have remained unresolved for years.
He noted that the administration’s focus is on practical solutions rather than political theatrics, urging citizens to judge leaders based on their actions rather than rhetoric.
“People must not be easily swayed by promises that vanish once power is secured,” Anwar said, cautioning against political manoeuvres that neglect long-term welfare. He added that the government’s responsibility is to ensure that the rights of the people are fulfilled consistently, regardless of political circumstances.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the aspirations of Sabahans for improved living standards, wider economic opportunities and balanced development.
He explained that these goals are being pursued through targeted allocations, including Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), and initiatives under the upcoming 2026 Budget.
According to government plans, these measures are designed to strengthen household income, expand access to essential services and support equitable growth across the state.
The allocations are part of a broader national agenda to reduce disparities between regions and ensure that Sabah and Sarawak receive fair attention in development policies.
Community leaders in Tulid welcomed the government’s assurances, noting that reliable infrastructure remains a pressing need in rural areas.
Many residents have long faced difficulties due to inconsistent water supply and limited Internet access, which hinder both daily life and economic progress.
The Prime Minister’s visit also underscored the importance of direct engagement with citizens. By listening to local concerns, the government aims to tailor its policies more effectively to the realities on the ground.
The event concluded with Anwar reiterating that the MADANI Government will continue to prioritise the welfare of Sabahans, ensuring that development is not only promised but delivered.
He emphasised that the administration’s approach is rooted in accountability, transparency and long-term commitment to the people.
