JPJ Director-General Stresses Unity at 2026 New Year Mandate

KOTA KINABALU – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) kicked off the year with its 2026 New Year Mandate Ceremony at D’Tempt Sendayan in Negeri Sembilan on Jan 26. The conference featured approximately 500 employees, from top management to divisional heads and state directors.

In the interest of inclusivity, the ceremony was also broadcasted online and JPJ staff from throughout Malaysia, including those in Sabah, watched virtually. The hybrid model was implemented in order to assure the communication of important information (directives as well as updates) was consistent across all members throughout the country.

Speaking at the event, Dato’ Aedy Fadly Ramli, Director-General of JPJ, emphasised the need for compatible policies and collective responsibility. He stressed that a department would only be successful if it relied on discipline, common goals and collective action at every level.

The “One Voice, Average” was the underlying theme of the mandate that set out to reconcile all efforts and activities in support of JPJ. The Director-General implored staff to remember that good service delivery also relies on teamwork, dedication and excellence.

He also thanked JPJ officers and staff for their commitment in upholding the public confidence as well as ensuring a seamless operation. His comments served to support the continued reform programme within the department, seeking to improve institutional performance and public service delivery.

Outside of internal edicts, JPJ still encourages the public to participate via its complaint channels. The public may also file traffic related complaints via the e-Aduan@JPJ (MyJPJ) mobile application or SISPAA JPJ online portal. They also are intended to reduce paperwork, increase accountability and offer citizens a more convenient way to note problems ranging from traffic violations to service complaints.

The e-Aduan system, launched in 2022, enables road users to report offences such as running red lights, using emergency lanes illegally and vehicle modification violations such as tinted windows or fancy number plates. On the other hand, SISPAA JPJ acts as a more general way of responding to complaints adequately and relatively quick.

The ceremony coincides with JPJ’s newest safety regulations as well. All Malaysian buses must be fitted with stricter safety-wiring from January 2026, in the wake of several electrical hazard cases. This program is part of JPJ’s broader focus on public safety and regulatory enforcement.

JPJ is looking to fill its role as a protector of road safety and transport regulation in Malaysia by combining enforcement requirements with public-facing efforts. The Director-General’s rallying call is one of unity and discipline for the department in 2026, which will support our mission to deliver dependable, efficient and quality services throughout the country.
