KUCHING: Saberkas Bukit Semuja Branch emerged as the champion of the 2026 Saberkas Sarawak President’s Cup Futsal Championship after a strong and disciplined campaign, marking a successful conclusion to the tournament held at the Kuching Sports Arena on Saturday.
The final event drew an impressive gathering of guests and leaders, highlighting the importance of youth sports development in Sarawak. The championship was officiated with the presence of SABERKAS leadership and invited dignitaries, reflecting strong institutional support for youth programmes across the state.
Among the notable guests were SABERKAS Secretary-General YB. Dr. Haji Safiee bin Haji Ahmad, who also serves as the Daro State Assemblyman, and YB. John Ilus, ADUN Bukit Semujan and Chairman of Saberkas Bukit Semuja. Also present was H.E. Senator Dato Ahmad bin Dato Sri Ibrahim, alongside SABERKAS internal auditor representatives and members of the organisation’s sports, recreation and culture sub-committee. SDRA. Surai son of Anthony Abel, Secretary of the SABERKAS Sports, Recreation and Culture Sub-Committee, was also in attendance.
Their presence underscored the continued commitment of SABERKAS leadership in supporting youth engagement through structured sports activities.
On the court, Saberkas Bukit Semuja delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament, showing consistency, teamwork, and strong discipline. Their journey to the championship title was marked by determined play and effective coordination, allowing them to outperform their competitors in the final stage.
With the win, Saberkas Bukit Semuja took home the championship prize of RM7,000, along with a trophy and medals. Saberkas Satok Branch finished as runner-up, receiving RM5,000, while Saberkas Lingga and Pelagus Branches shared third place honours, each awarded RM3,000 together with trophies and medals.
Dr Safiee Ahmad stated that the championship successfully achieved its purpose of strengthening unity among youth while building discipline and leadership qualities. He added that SABERKAS will continue to expand such programmes at divisional levels to ensure wider youth participation across Sarawak.
He also emphasised that young people today are the future backbone of the state, and platforms like the futsal championship play a key role in shaping responsible and resilient leaders.
The successful conclusion of the 2026 SABERKAS President’s Cup Futsal Championship further reinforces SABERKAS’s long-standing commitment to youth development through sports, unity, and community engagement.
