SARATOK — A total of 24 contingents participated in the Saratok District-Level Sarawak Day Parade on Saturday, filling the town with patriotic energy from the Saratok County Council Grounds to Sri Kalaka Open Hall.

The event saw the attendance of several dignitaries, including Kalaka Assemblyman (ADUN) Mohamad Duri, Lieutenant Commander of the Ninth Infantry Brigade Brigadier General Jafri Bin Sulaiman, and other honoured guests.

Jointly organised by the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Saratok Branch, Saratok District Office, Kalaka ADUN Service Centre, and LAKIS, the celebration also welcomed active participation from local schools and residents, symbolising unity and deep pride in Sarawak’s heritage.

In his speech, Mohamad Duri reminded attendees of the importance of fostering patriotism and loyalty to Sarawak, noting the legacy of the late Chief Minister Allahyarham Tok Nan.

“The sacred words of Tok Nan – Intu Sarawak, Jaga Sarawak – are a lasting symbol of love and responsibility towards our beloved state,” he said.

Following the parade, attendees were treated to cultural showcases, including a Kalam Jamaie performance by Soutul Haura’ from SK Abang Abdul Rahman, and a choral speaking piece themed ‘MADANI Generation’ by students from the same school.

The Sarawak Day celebration in Saratok was not just a parade, but a heartfelt display of community spirit, culture, and unity in honour of Sarawak’s proud journey and aspirations.
