SARATOK – The 3R Programme (Youth Celebrate Ramadan) opened at Al Muhtadin Saratok Mosque on Saturday evening, 14 March 2026, corresponding with the 24th of Ramadan 1447H. The initiative gathered young people for a day filled with spiritual reflection, learning, and group activities.
The programme was organised by the Al Muhtadin Saratok Mosque Promotion Bureau with support from the Sarawak Muslim Brotherhood Association (ANSAR) and HIKMAH Betong Branch. Around 70 teenagers and youth from nearby schools and suraus took part in the event.
The programme was officiated by Mohamad Duri, Assemblyman for N38 Kalaka, who thanked the organisers and participants for their commitment. He stressed the need to involve young people in mosque activities and praised the effort to create a programme focused on youth development.
According to Tuan Haji Yusuf bin Hj Terang, Chairman of Al Muhtadin Saratok Mosque, the activities began after the zohor prayer and continued until dawn the next morning.
The schedule included a Ramadan Youth Tazkirah, motivational sessions on identity and personal values, qiamullail, tadabbur al-Quran, team-building exercises, and communal meals such as iftar jamaie and moreh.
The programme set clear goals. Organisers aimed to build a stronger connection between youth and the mosque, shape positive character through Ramadan activities, and strengthen relationships among participants from different schools and suraus.
Group activities encouraged teamwork and reinforced Islamic values, while motivational sessions focused on personal growth and self-awareness. The mix of spiritual practices and structured learning created an environment where participants learned while building friendships.
The event also highlighted the role of mosques as centres for community life. Beyond prayer, mosques serve as spaces for education, social interaction, and leadership development. Programmes like this encourage young people to take part in those roles.
During his remarks, Mohamad Duri reaffirmed support for initiatives that focus on youth engagement, noting their importance in preparing future community leaders. He thanked the organisers and participants and wished them success in continuing such efforts.
The 3R Programme left a strong impression on the Saratok community, reinforcing the values of faith, unity, and youth involvement during the month of Ramadan.
