Sarawak Athletes Focus on Mental Strength for Borneo Games 2025

KUCHING – Athletes from the Sarawak contingent are intensifying their preparation for the 2025 Borneo Games Kuching (BGK 2025) with a strong emphasis on mental resilience and team unity, alongside physical and technical training.

The ongoing training camp at the Sarawak Squadron Village (SSV) serves as a crucial platform for fostering camaraderie among participants from diverse regions across the state.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Gerard highlighted the camp’s role in building psychological fortitude and collective spirit.

“We aim for our athletes to form a tightly-knit family, united in purpose and support, much like festive celebrations such as Dayak or Hari Raya,” he stated during a media interview following a motivational session.

The camp features nightly motivational talks and comprehensive support from nutritionists, physiotherapists, counsellors, and sports science experts to ensure peak performance.

Gerard also underscored the broader significance of the Games in strengthening cultural and economic ties across Borneo.

The event is envisioned not only as a sporting competition but as a catalyst for regional unity and collaboration. Athletes are encouraged to maintain discipline and a competitive mindset to honour Sarawak’s legacy.
