Sarawak Boosts Education with New SK Kampung Petanak Facilities

MUKAH – The Sarawak Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the education sector by providing modern and comfortable learning environments for teachers and students.

Tellian Assemblyman Royston Valentine emphasised the importance of conducive facilities during the official handover of the new building for SK Kampung Petanak Mukah on Tuesday.

He noted that well-maintained schools are essential in shaping excellent students and supporting teachers in their work.

“A good school building is very important because it is where our children learn and our teachers teach. If a building cannot be replaced with a new one, repair works must be carried out immediately to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone,” he said.

The newly completed SK Kampung Petanak project forms part of a wider package that also included SK Dua Sungai, Mukah and SK Dijih, Selangau.

According to Royston, these developments not only improve physical comfort but also inspire teachers to deliver lessons more effectively and motivate students to excel.

He added: “A complete and modern school building not only provides comfort but also encourages teachers to teach and students to learn. This aligns with the state government’s goal of nurturing a competitive young generation and future leaders of quality.”

Royston urged all agencies involved in school development projects to continue working closely to ensure smooth implementation and timely completion.

He expressed gratitude to the Public Works Department (JKR) and other stakeholders for their role in delivering the project successfully.

The ceremony was attended by Mukah Division JKR Engineer Awang Dasuki Awang Dol, SK Kampung Petanak Headmaster Afian Bokhan, and Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) Chairman Ramlan Ali, alongside community members who welcomed the new facilities.

The state government has consistently highlighted education as a cornerstone of Sarawak’s development agenda.

Investments in infrastructure such as SK Kampung Petanak reflect broader efforts to provide safe, modern and inspiring spaces that support both academic achievement and character development.

By ensuring schools are equipped with proper facilities, Sarawak aims to cultivate a generation of students who are not only academically strong, but also prepared to take on leadership roles in the future.
