Sarawak Government Reinforces Commitment to Student Excellence

SARATOK – The Sarawak Government has reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing a generation of students who are competitive, knowledgeable, and prepared to meet the state’s future needs.

Speaking at the Graduation and Outstanding Student Awards Ceremony of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Min Syn Saratok, Kalaka State Assemblyman Mohamad Duri emphasised the importance of sustaining academic excellence.

He urged students who have already achieved success to continue striving for improvement and to maintain their performance as they progress in their studies.

Highlighting the government’s education agenda, Mohamad Duri pointed to the implementation of free education beginning in 2026 as a clear demonstration of Sarawak’s determination to ensure equal access to quality learning opportunities.

He stressed that this policy would benefit all students regardless of their background, reflecting the state’s commitment to inclusivity and long-term development.

During the ceremony, Mohamad Duri presented certificates of appreciation and gifts to Year 6 and kindergarten pupils, recognising their achievements in both academic and co-curricular fields.

The event, held annually, serves as a platform to celebrate student accomplishments and encourage continued dedication to learning.

In his address, Mohamad Duri also reminded Year 6 students of the importance of discipline and diligence as they transition into secondary school.

He underscored that academic success must be complemented by strong character and identity, which are essential in shaping future leaders.

The ceremony at SJKC Min Syn Saratok brought together teachers, parents, and community members, reflecting the collective effort to support education at the grassroots level.

Such initiatives are seen as vital in motivating students and reinforcing the value of education in rural communities.

Education remains a central pillar in Sarawak’s development strategy, with the state government investing in programmes that enhance both infrastructure and learning opportunities.

The introduction of free education is expected to reduce financial barriers, enabling more students to pursue their studies without constraints.

As Sarawak continues to expand its education policies, the recognition of student achievements at local schools highlights the government’s broader vision of producing well-rounded individuals who can contribute to the state’s progress.

The ceremony at Saratok stands as a reminder of the importance of community support in fostering excellence among the younger generation.
