LUNDU – Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar inspected the construction progress of the Rambungan Bridge during a visit to the Lundu area on 19 September.
Accompanied by Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, Tun Wan Junaidi visited the ongoing project while travelling to a wedding ceremony at Kampung Rambungan.
The inspection provided an opportunity to observe the progress of the bridge project, which forms part of the road and bridge infrastructure serving the area.
Tun Wan Junaidi welcomed the development of transport infrastructure, particularly in rural and coastal parts of Sarawak, where improved road connectivity can support access between communities and other areas.
He noted that reliable road and bridge links are important not only for the movement of residents but also for access to economic activities, education and public services.
For communities in rural areas, improvements in connectivity can reduce transport barriers and make it easier for residents to travel for work, education and other essential needs.
Better links can also support the movement of goods and contribute to wider economic activity in surrounding areas.
The Rambungan Bridge project is part of broader infrastructure development intended to strengthen connectivity in the area.

The Governor said infrastructure such as roads and bridges could help create opportunities for socio-economic activity while supporting development in rural and coastal communities.

During the visit, Tun Wan Junaidi expressed his hope that construction of the Rambungan Bridge would continue smoothly and remain on schedule.

The inspection took place as part of the Governor’s visit to Lundu, where he and Toh Puan were also scheduled to attend a wedding ceremony in Kampung Rambungan.
