Sarawak Governor Concludes Aidilfitri Visits at YB Lukanisman’s Residence

MIRI – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, concluded their Aidilfitri programme in Miri Division on 27 March with a visit to the residence of YB Dato Lukanisman bin Awang Sauni, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for P.218 Sibuti. The gathering took place at Jalan Sim Kheng Hong, Miri.

The visit followed earlier engagements with other community leaders and marked the final stop in a series of festive visits across Miri.

The Governor was accompanied by his daughter Sharifah Nong-Jasima, her husband Muhammad Nur Hakeem Yusop, and their child Tasneem.

Joining the Governor and his wife were several senior state leaders. Among them were Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Sarawak and Minister of the Interior, with his wife Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini binti Abdul Jaabar.

Also present were Adam Yii Siew Sang, Mayor of Miri City Council, and Tuan Haji Ariffin bin Mohamad, Deputy Mayor of Miri City Council.

The hosts, Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni and his family, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests.

The event was held in a festive and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of Aidilfitri as a time for unity, kinship, and mutual respect.

In his remarks, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi expressed appreciation for the hospitality shown by the hosts and described the visit as a meaningful conclusion to the series of Aidilfitri engagements in Miri Division.

He emphasised that the celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri should continue to instil values of unity, strengthen family ties, and bring lasting prosperity and harmony among Sarawak’s diverse communities.

The Governor and his wife reaffirmed their gratitude for the opportunity to socialise with leaders and residents in Miri, noting that such gatherings highlight the importance of inclusivity and togetherness.

Their presence underscored the cultural and social significance of Aidilfitri in Sarawak, where traditions of kinship and community remain central to the festive season.

The visit concluded the Governor’s Aidilfitri programme in Miri, leaving behind a message of unity and goodwill that resonates across the state.
